news, finally

Well, after much consideration we decided we're moving to Tucson. The position that Rodrigo was offered was just not one that could be turned down. Once he accepted, he had to submit lots and lots of paperwork and be screened for a security clearance. Again, we had to wait. I have told some of you that we had decided to move, but I didn't want to make any official announcement until we got the go-ahead. This morning, Rodrigo received a call stating that he, or we rather passed the interim security process and can go forth with the relocation process. Woot! We've already been there a couple of times looking at houses, but now that we are certain that we are moving we need to go back and do some serious house hunting.
Looking for a house in a city that we don't live in has proven to be really difficult. When we bought this one, we'd spend weekends and afternoons looking at various visiting various houses until we found the one we really wanted. Right now, we've been relying mainly on the internet. We get a list of houses that have what we we're looking for and then go look at them in person when we get a chance. Being how Tucson is a four hour drive, we haven't gone as often as we would've liked.
My apologies once more for being so inconsistent on this blog. As you can imagine, we've had a lot to do. I've scheduled my last day of work and are trying to take my left over vacation days whenever one is available. More to come soon, I mean it this time.

Don't you hate when you see a product and think "ARGH! WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT"? I've had a few of those moments recently.

- I should've totally thought of this seeing as to how I have such a hard time opening packages. Now I should come up with some kind of gadget to cut all the things that toys come tied up in.

- A salad spritzer! Of course. You know when I get one of these I'll be spritzing, eating, spritzing, eating.

- this isn't exactly a product but what a great idea! A few of this bank's members are paying 98 cents per gallon. Yes, 98 cents. Thousands of people are paying less than $2.

my american idol take

I know you've all been dying to read what I think about American Idol this season. The fact that I hadn't posted about this is the reason why some of you can't sleep sometimes. Calm down, here it is. Now you'll feel complete. Here is what I think in order of last night's performances. . . .

Elliott: I think he's good but I don't think he'll win. I like his voice most of the time but I don't like how he moves "rapper style" sometimes. It doesn't go with him.

Paris: She can sing. I liked her a lot more during the auditions than I do now. I can definately see her singing like in a musical or something. I'm not sure if she could headline a concert.

Chris: I love him. I think he's winning this year. I think even if he were not to win, he'd still have a good musical career. He's pretty marketable. I can't say much more than that. I really, really like him.

Kat: I love her voice, I think she's beautiful. I think she will be in the top two or three. Again, even if she doesn't win, she'll definately have a career.

Taylor: Ok, I like him. I do, but I'm tired of the whole spasm dance thing. He can really sing and he sounds better when he's not "dancing" around. Yet, if he doesn't dance around he's kind of boring. I think a lot of people really love him though.

My prediction:

2nd runner up: Taylor Hicks
1st runner up: Katharine McPhee
winner: Chirs Daughtry

I'm not sure about Taylor and Kat. That might go either way. What do you think?

random thoughts

- this bothers me. Frankly, I find it sad and embarrassing.

- If this is true, I'll start watching everyday, or as long as it takes to watch Rosie and Star duke it out. I give it a week. :P

- I need a keychain. I want a pretty one. Any suggestions?

- There's a coffeehouse close to my house that I really like. I find it hilarious to hear Rodrigo order his drink. He says, "I want a short sugar daddy". Ha!

- We are having lunch catered from here at work today. Yum.

- I started adding my books to an online library. I can't remember which other books I have in a box somewhere. Oh, and I totally ripped off the library thing from Jen.

-someone came to my site using the tag "how to stop eating hot cheetos". They're at the WRONG place.

club supermarket

There are days when I don't have time to go to the store. Times when we run out of something like milk or bread and we go make a quick stop. It's easier and quicker for me to go by myself, so once the kids are in bed either Rodrigo or I will go. I've noticed something about these "later at night" trips to the supermarket. They play music that I used to hear at clubs. The first time I noticed this, they played Depeche Mode's Everything Counts. I found it odd. During the day this store plays normal supermarket music. Then I went again at night and I heard New Order's True Faith. What? Ever since I started paying attention to this, I've also heard Erasure, Duran Duran, Travis and 10,000 Maniacs at this store. What's more is that I see people around my age singing along. Too funny! This isn't supermarket music, is it? It's a good thing the Starbucks in the store is closed at that time. With coffee and good music, I might be in there much, much longer.

I had a dream last night that Angelina Jolie had her baby. It was a girl and they named her Salmon. Everyone was super excited about the lovely name since it meant something really nice in Africa. I was saying it was a horrible name and everyone kept telling me that I was being mean or jealous. Yeah. I need to stop paying so much attention to celebrity gossip.

The awesome Ani tagged me with this cool meme I've been seeing around. The whole point of this is to list six weird things about yourself. *deep breath* So, I think you all are going to think I'm a huge psycho after this but nevertheless, I'm going to be as honest as I can.

1. I hate the sound of silverware. I hate the clinking sound that it makes when it taps against other silverware and especially hate the sound of silverware against teeth. It literally gives me chills and goosebumps. I cannot stand the sound. The worst noise I can describe is the sound of a teeth scraping a fork. Just thinking about this is making my skin crawl.
2. I count digital numbers in multiples of five. I do this mostly anytime I am around a digital clock. You know how the numbers are "blocky"? Well, I look at the time, count each little line on a number (example: the number 7 is two lines) and whatever time it is, it have to make it total a multiple of 5. The little dots between the hour and minute are extra, so I can either subract or add two or up to four to make it add up. This is really hard to explain but I've done this for as long as I can remember. If I am around a clock, I'll look at the time, make the 5 pattern and keep doing it in my head until the minute changes and/or I start concentrating on something else. I do this for long times now since I'm so used to it and it doesn't take much thinking. It's such an unconscious thing now.
3. I do something similar when driving. I memorize license plates. Not because the driver has done anything but I just do it. I'll look at the plate in front of me and read it "123 abc" then I keep repeating "123 abc" until again something else grabs my attention. Again, since this doesn't require much concentration, it can keep going for a long time.
4. I cannot eat with a utensil that has a design on the handle. If there are no utensils without a design (when we're not at home) I'll use a plastic one.
5. I go crazy for journals, stationery and pens. Ahh. . . . you have no idea. I actually haven't bought any stationery for quite a while because I just have so much of it already. I have lots that I've never even used. As far as pens, I LOVE them. I love pens and sharpies and markers. I rarely ever lose a pen and just keep using it until the ink runs out. When someone asks me to borrow me pen, I'll lend it, but it secretly bothers me. As for journals, again, I have too many. Lots of family members and friends know that I love them and I get these kinds of gifts a lot. I love it and can never have too many. I have soooo many journals and use them all too. I also use my planner as a journal. I write all the things I did that day instead of the things I have to do. It's kind of fun to go through old planners and see the things I was doing then.
6. I have a thing about having to start walking with the right foot. The first step I take out of bed, into a room, out of a room, up or down stairs, anything always has to be with the right foot. I think this comes from the years I spent in dance. Every step always started with the right foot, if not, you'd be off. I feel "off" if I start walking with the left foot.

Yikes, I'm a weirdo. I'm thinking of how I didn't even list the traits I consider weirdest about myself. There is no reason to tell me that you think I have O.C.D. because I'm pretty convinced that I do. I won't tag other people but I'd really like for you to either do it on your own site or leave a comment about a weird trait about yourself. Please make me feel that I'm not the only weirdo.
