While most kids are barely getting into the hang of being back in school, mine started Fall holiday this past Monday. They're on a year-long schedule and will have three weeks off. Three LONG weeks. I've been trying to keep them busy and entertained this whole week. They both started up sports practices this week. Brianna is in cheer leading again and now Alec is on t-ball. It's an amazing time to be outside.
Let me tell you about the weather here. . . . it's hot in the summer. HOT! It gets to the point where we say ridiculous things like "It's going to be cooler today. We're only hitting a high of 103". I must say though that right now the weather is lovely. Well, to me at least. These days our lows are in the low 60's and highs in the low to mid 90's. Awesome. Lovely morning walking weather.
Recently I met three new families in school and cheer leading. One just moved here from Wisconsin, another from upstate New York and the other from Washington State. They're burning up. While I was talking to the New York mom yesterday, she was telling me how excited she was that her kids will actually be able to wear Halloween costumes in their size now. She was telling me how she would always buy them about two sizes too big to accommodate warm clothes underneath. If this Halloween is like last year's then it should be no problem.
Speaking of . . . . we decorated the house for Halloween yesterday. Alec is now calling it "The Haunted Mansion". Cute. I'm about to check on various crafts sites to see what I can occupy the kiddies with today.
Another family I met is also from Texas. (I remembered because she also had her kids decorate this week) Just like us, the Texas family moved here because of the man's job and has no other family here. Well, also the Wisconsin family, the New York family, and the Washington family. All of us are here without family and none of us moms work. (We moms? Us moms? Whatever) Plus we all have kids that are somehow friends. Some are friends with Brianna, some with Alec. I am fully convinced that we all have to start some sort of new Joy Luck Club. I'm fantasizing about book meetings, soup swaps, Oscar parties, birthday parties and babysitting duties. The two moms whose kids are buddies with Alec and I are getting together next week and the two who are Brianna's friends, I'll be seeing tomorrow. I just somehow need to get them all together. I'm thinking pot luck at my house since I'm the common acquaintance.
Ok, well I've been rambling through this whole post. I've thought of about a million things to post about this week and each time I've been busy with these kids. Oh, did you all watch The Office last night? Yeah, it was worth the wait. I laughed most at "I'm not superstitious, I'm just a little stitious".
Again, sorry about the nonsequitors. It's kind of hard to concentrate with Brianna reading over my shoulder. (Ha! She stopped as soon as she read that)

exciting news!
Let me tell you about the things that have made me giddy the past few days.
-On January 15th I MET INCUBUS! That's right. I met Incubus. My Christmas gift from Rodrigo was tickets to the meet and greet at the Phoenix concert. Now, I could've thought of about a million witty and clever things to say, but as I was about to enter the building, I blanked out. When I was with the band (especially hot, hot Brandon) all I was saying was something like "Duh . . . er . . . ah . . (giggle, giggle) daaaaa . . .uh . . . " Something like that. I sounded like a total moron. Anyway, they were all really cool. Really cool. I guess since I think Brandon is super attractive, I sort of expected him to just be there posing so for him to be joking around kind of threw me off. We got an autograph from all of them on a picture designed by Jose (drummer). I also hugged the band members and was able to touch the subject of quantum theory with Brandon (long story).
After the meet and greet, we had to wait a little while before the concert started. It was funny to hear a lot of the people talking about it. A couple of girls were adding and adding things to their story. I kept thinking "I was in there and that did not happen". So, if I were like those girls, the meet and greet would have been more like . . . . . I walked in and then I tripped and all the band members ran over to pick me up. Then I was so excited that I fainted and Brandon carried me. Then we made out and now we're married. How's that?
Once inside, since we had V.I.P. tickets, we were right at the front of the stage. Uh, this was alright when I was like 19 but I was in no mood to get trampled or squished. I told Rodrigo that we should stay there for a few songs so that I could some good pictures then after that, we'd go to the back. Sure enough as soon as Incubus started playing, we were crushed. I got several pictures then jumped the barricade and went to the back. Even now over a week after the show, I still have my legs bruised up from the pushing crowd. I'm way too old for this.
- Huge news this past Sunday/Monday was the snow. IT SNOWED IN ARIZONA. That was all you could hear about on the news. We were hanging out on Sunday afternoon. It had been raining all day. I looked out because I couldn't hear the rain anymore and noticed that it had started snowing! It took me a while to process what was happening. Of course the kids were really excited.

- Also, in not so exciting news, I'm coaching cheer again. Yup, I'll be the coach again for the winter season. What can I say? Brianna loves it and since I'm going to be there anyway . . . . Besides, I at least know what I'm doing this time around. I have 11 new girls but they all seem to be picking up quickly. I should be getting paid for this, though. It takes a lot of time making all the team rosters, snack schedules, newsletters, formations, printing out cheers with moves, picking up and sorting uniforms, calling all the parents, etc. Oh well.
- Oh, I almost forgot . . . . our house! I had told you before that we were supposed to have moved in December but the house was not ready at all. So, the construction finally well under way. We had a meeting with the builder and everything is going well. They asked if we would consider renting it to them to use as a model. We're sort of hesitant about that. On one hand, it would be extra money. On the other, it's kind of weird to have people going through your house. I think I'd say yes on the condition that after they decorate it as a model, they leave everything in there for us. Yeah right. I wish! I'll post more about the house as things develop.
I guess that's it for now. I have about a million emails that I need to reply to and 75 million pictures I've promised to email and still haven't done. Take care, all!

lots to do
I've been crazy busy around here the last few days. The kids finished painting and decorating the advent calendar and we put it up last Friday.
That is the wall right above our chimney. I placed little tasks inside each box. Things like make peppermint hot chocolate, cut snowflakes, write a letter to Santa, etc. The kids are really enjoying it.
We also put up most of the decorations this past weekend. Everything that we have indoors is up. The only thing missing are the lights outside. It has been way too windy to put those up yet.
Also, Brianna's school asked us for some supplies because they are making a gift for the parents. They asked for a bag full of cloth strips a little less wider than a ruler. So I took ten years cutting that. They are also making a "quilt book report" due this Friday. Yes, we have to make a quilt. Thankfully, it's only 9 squares.
The last thing that has been taking up my time is the cheerleading. Our season is almost over. Whew. We knew since the beginning of the season that the last day would be a cheer-off. I'd asked the people in charge about a million times about what this would consist of. I'd been told again and again that all the squads would pick their favorite cheer and perform it. Then the squad with the most spirit wins. I was pretty confident because these girls are WAY louder than the rest. I thought it was in the bag. Then at the game this Saturday, I got a flyer giving me the details for the cheer-off. We are to perform a routine with our own music, then a few cheers all to last no longer than four minutes. WTF?!?! A routine? Like a dance? Taught by me? I couldn't concentrate for the rest of the game just thinking up of what to do. I thought about maybe having them wear Santa hats and doing a Christmas song. Then I thought about making antlers and having them dance to that Run Rudolph song. Of course later I realized that the girls would be mortified to do this in front of the football players (since they all have a crush on each other) and decided to do something that is "cool" to them. (Presuming that "cool" is still a word that kids use now.) When I got home, I started going through all my music trying to look for something that could be used for a cheer dance. Think something upbeat like a dance song or something. Also, something that is appropriate for girls aged 5-10 (nothing like that Milkshake song or My Humps, which of course, I don't own anyway) Rodrigo was a huge help by looking through his old music folders. The problem is that all our dance music is like 90's techno. Like the Sneaker Pimps and the Chemical Brothers. Anyway, I finally found a short mix online and am now going crazy trying to come up with a dance. If someone saw me dancing and counting they'd think I've lost my mind. Anyway, I have to teach this today, so wish me luck. Oh, and don't laugh at me.

crazy busy
Sorry I've been neglecting the blog again. It's been crazy busy around here. I've been making lots of accesories for the cheer girls I'm coaching. This past Saturday was their first scrimmage game and I wanted to have most everything done by then. I made 75 million shoe/hair poms. . .
a whole bunch of bracelets with jingles . . .
and about a trillion bows which unfortunately were not finished in time. I still have five to make. We had other hair accesories, so I didn't feel bad about not completing those. Anyway, I have to get back to work on these. I have some more things I have to finish by tomorrow (snack schedules, game schedules, picture schedules, trophy orders, etc.)so I better get going. I just wanted to pop in and say a quick hi. Hi!
