Brianna's haircut

My daughter is seven years old and believe it or not she'd never had a haircut. Of course, we'd trimmed her hair several times but never a real haircut. It was time. I'd been trying to convince her for a while now but every time I'd mention it, she'd cry and/or say how she loves long hair and that she didn't want to cut it. Her hair was so long that it was hard to maintain. Washing it took a long time. Drying took forever. Plus, I don't like using the blowdryer on her, so you can imagine how long that takes. Brushing it out was always an ordeal. She'd have so many snarls that it was really starting to become a battle each morning. Her hair is not really straight so I think her curls hid just how dry her hair really was.
This morning, I brushed it out as straight as I could, so we could see how long it was. See how dry and damaged it looks like this?

We took one last "before" picture once we got to the stylist's.

There's no turning back now.

Soooooooooo much hair was cut off!

Much better!

Hehe, thanks. She looks so much more grown up now. Seriously, I wanted to cry when I saw her. I would always have her in pigtails with her long hair. Aww, my baby.

she looks great! did you keep some locks and donate her hair?

Thanks, Wyn. No, I contacted Locks of Love but there are no local salons that they are associated with. Also, her hair was really sun and chlorine damaged, so I don't know how much of it would've been useful.

It looks really good! I probably would have cried. There's something about haircutting :)

Thank, Jessica. Yeah, I almost cried. I probably would have if there weren't so many people around.

And I'm happy for you -- her hair is much easier to maintain now! And I"m all for easy! :)
