about Rodrigo . . .

I like keeping this page light and not really deep or depressing. I don't think I've ever written about this here. Those of you who know me know about this, I'm sure. In 2000, Rodrigo was involved in a horrible car accident. He was unconscious for about two weeks and had several broken bones and injuries. Hospital staff told us that we had to hurry up and go in to see him if we wanted to see him alive. He was hospitalized for a month. Afterwards, he had to learn how to walk and talk all over again. It is a time that I don't like to think or talk about. Of course on certain occasions, I remember. Today is his birthday. On birthdays, for his university graduation, the day our son was born, any special occasion, I think about how grateful I am to have him. I remember seeing him broken and helpless. I remember how helpless I felt at that moment. At that time, I could not have thought that the life we have now would have even been possible. I am ecstatic that it is. I think his accident is a huge reason as to why we're always clowning around and laughing. I feel like he's been given a second chance at life. We might as well have a great time.

Happy birthday, guy.
