party!

We finally had Alec's party yesterday. Everything turned out really well! Although we only invited family, we received more guests than what we had anticipated but all in all, we all had lots of fun. There was one issue. The cake! I totally stole this cake from the LJC blog. I had planned to make it but changed my mind because I thought I'd be too busy. I went to sooooo many bakeries and cake makers no one could make it or would charge me an outrageous price. We finally found one baker who loved the idea and agreed to make it. Only when we went to pick it up did we notice that he made round cakes instead of little mounds for the caterpillar body. Argh! I could've made round cakes myself. Oh well. That's what I get for not asking Jenny if I could borrow her idea. Besides, parties rarely turn put exactly how we expect them to. If you want to take a look at some of the pictures, you can find them here. Enjoy!

apology

I've been neglecting my page. I know it. Thanks to those of you who still check in to see if I've updated. The truth is that with my last job, I didn't have the time nor the will. Have any of you ever had a job that you hate so much that it just ruins your day? That's how I felt. I'd come home and not even want to do anything. I'd been putting off Alec's party because I had no inspiration for anything. That's a horrible way to be. I feel so much better now. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Last week, my new boss called me and asked if I'd like to go in to observe for three days. I went and everyone seems so nice. It has such a different feel in the atmosphere. Plus JP Morgan/Chase is such a big coorporation that the benefits are ideal. I feel old for being so excited about insurance but I have to think this was now that I have kids.
We're finally getting Alec's birthday party together. My poor baby is already one and we still haven't had his party. We were trying to have a huge deal with all of Rodrigo's family, my family (which is not as big) and all our friends. Uh, that's not going to happen. We decided to just have the party already and keep it simple with close family. The theme is "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" and I'm running around making all the decorations. The colors I picked are yellow, blue, red, orange, and green so you can imagine all the solid color felt and curling ribbon that is in my house right now. Well, I'm off to make more stuff for the party. Good night!

demolition man

This past week I heard some radio dj saying that the 1993 movie "Demolition Man" was "the next Nostradamus". He explained that there is a scene in the movie where Sandra Bullock and Sylvester Stallone pass by the "Arnold Schwarzenegger Presidential Library". Now, remember that this is supposed to be taking place in the future. Sandra Bullock's character goes on to explain that due to Ah-nold's popularity, people were forced to amend the constitution to allow immigrants to be able to become president. Supposedly, in another part of the movie Wesley Snipes is looking through some computer files trying to look up names of possible parolees. One of the names that comes up is "Scott Peterson". I wouldn't go so far as to say that these are predictions, but they sure are coincidences. I don't have that movie but if any of you do, is this true? I vaguely remember the library scene, but I'm curious about the name. Anyway, I hope you're all having a great holiday weekend. Bye!
