killjoy elementary

We were coming home from Brianna's school yesterday and we were talking about her day. She was telling me what she'd had for lunch and causually added, "Oh, and we can't wear costumes to school tomorrow". What?!?! No costumes? At an elementary school? That's full of little kids? WTF? I sort of didn't believe it because we hadn't received a memo or anything (and this school send memos for EVERYTHING). I called and sure enough, no costumes allowed. Absolutely NO treats allowed. Students who show up in a costume will be send home. Hmm. How odd and unfestive. Oh well, there's still trick or treating tonight. I'm only sad that Brianna won't be able to show off her hair combs she loves so much. She is going to be wearing a "Forest Fairy" costume and I made her some hair combs out of glittery Christmas leaves. Anyway, have a safe and happy Halloween, all!

Yeah, there was ONE complaint about not everybody having the same beliefs. So the school can't take anymore chances. They celebrated "Pumpkin Patch" day today. No mention of Halloween. You know how that goes, the school didn't have a choice.

At the school my mom works (an elementary school) they have to dress as book characters. They have a fall celebration instead of calling it a Halloween party.

Sorry to hear that Yvett. Hope you and the family had a nice Halloween anyway.
