ugh

So, we've been back for a few days. As soon as we got back we had to start working on a "rainforest costume" that Brianna had to make for class. That's out of the way and now both the kids have some stomach bug thing. I had to call in to work today and I'm at home with the kids. I don't know how many times I've been vomitted on within the last couple of days. Last night was the worst. So, today I'll be busy washing sheets, pajamas, towels and blankets as well as disinfecting this whole house. It smells like sick house in here. Well, somebody has to do it. Ugh.

Off to Arizona. Don't think we'll travel without a laptop. I'll post pictures soon! Being the procrastinator that I am, I'm still packing. We leave today in the afternoon and I work today. AHH!!!

Brianna's haircut

My daughter is seven years old and believe it or not she'd never had a haircut. Of course, we'd trimmed her hair several times but never a real haircut. It was time. I'd been trying to convince her for a while now but every time I'd mention it, she'd cry and/or say how she loves long hair and that she didn't want to cut it. Her hair was so long that it was hard to maintain. Washing it took a long time. Drying took forever. Plus, I don't like using the blowdryer on her, so you can imagine how long that takes. Brushing it out was always an ordeal. She'd have so many snarls that it was really starting to become a battle each morning. Her hair is not really straight so I think her curls hid just how dry her hair really was.
This morning, I brushed it out as straight as I could, so we could see how long it was. See how dry and damaged it looks like this?





We took one last "before" picture once we got to the stylist's.






There's no turning back now.

My lack of posts recently have been due to just pure exhaustion. You would not believe just how tired I've been lately. I'd attempt to sit here and just not feel like doing anything. I was able to go to sleep earlier last night, wake up later today, I had a day off and I've had two cups of coffee and a red bull. I'm good today. I have to catch up on bills, answering emails and, well, posting here.

Since I last posted. . . .

-Brianna won third place in the district science fair.
-Brianna also made a beautiful plate here.
-We have a new member in our family!
-We will be spending a few days here and here next week.

Also. . . .

-I guess I'm behind in times but I'm still in the first stage of the Arctic Monkeys (I'll be skipping the second one).
-This is hilarious!
-Thanks to certain people, Keiffer Sutherland no longer exists to me. Only Jack Bauer and I don't watch 24 either. Still, I was excited that he has a playlist.
-After more than two years I gave my old commenting host the shaft. I was tired of losing my comments. It had already happened three times.

I read this article on Slate today and I thought it was really interesting. I have noticed how lots of non-Catholics are making lent promises. That is, people "give something up" for lent. I grew up Catholic but I don't pratice anything Catholic anymore. The first holy communion was about as far as I went. Oh, and I did baptize my kids although I didn't get confirmation or well, married. Heh, heh. Growing up I just hated this time of year. Ugh. Oh, I guess I wrote about this same thing two years ago. Its too bad that I've lost all my old comments because I'd like to read them. Well, I don't have fond memories of lent. I already received a phone call from my grandma today telling me she made a ton of food yesterday and wants me to go get some pea soup and capirotada. I told her I'd eaten a ham sandwich for breakfast before noon (just to see what she would say) but she didn't think it was very funny. She also tries to make Rodrigo follow all these rituals and he wasn't even raised Catholic. If I do go over, she's going to ask me to take her to church. *sigh* I really don't feel like going, we'll see.
